Step 2: Mordant
  1. A mordant helps the dye stick to the wool
  2. Dissolve 2 oz Alum, and 1/2 oz cream of tartar in 2 gallons of hot water
  3. Add wool and cover pot.
  4. Bring to a simmer, and let wool simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally
  5. Cool in bath
  6. Rinse and store in bag in refrigerator.
